
Neurodiversity Informed Practice
Neurodiversity informed practice allows clinicians to understand and identify types of neurodivergence, discuss differences in communication that may benefit neurodivergent clients, and be able to identify masking behaviors and speak to their impact on a neurodivergent client.

Learning Objectives:
The clinicians will be able to accurately identify various types of neurodivergence and connect them to their definition
The clinicians will discuss the differences in communication that a neurodivergent client may need.
The clinicians will describe and identify masking behaviors and describe why masking may be harmful to a client.
Target Audience: clinicians who see neurodivergent clients
Content Level: Intermediate, clinicians should have some understanding of neurodivergence and strong clinical skills prior to the training.
Instructor: CJ Malament (they/them) is a skilled therapist, trainer, and supervisor. They provide affirming therapy to neurodivergent clients in the community, and are themself neurodivergent. CJ’s interests in person centered work, combined with their natural ability to provide positive regard, make them especially adept at developing supportive environments for clients to thrive.

Clinician registration closes one month prior to the training [date provided once training date is provided]. In order to receive a full refund, the trainee must cancel their engagement in the training a month prior to the initial day of training, so that the spot may be offered to another trainee. In extenuating circumstances, the trainee must communicate with the trainer as quickly as possible so they may determine whether they are able to refund the trainee. After one month, 50% of the paid sum remains refundable until the initial day of the training. Should the trainee not attend the training with no advance notice, the trainee will not be refunded.

In order for the course to be considered complete, the full training must be attended, the post test must be completed, an instructor evaluation must be completed, and the clinician must engage in discussions. There are no assignments outside of these pieces. The certificate is issued to the email used to register within one week of completion of the course. The post test and instructor evaluation are provided via email; the post test is a google form that clinicians may fill out. The passing score is 60%. There are unlimited re-tests. The instructor evaluation is completed via a canvas link. Your information may be gathered to ensure that you have completed this task but may not be used for any other purpose.
Cairn Counseling, [provider number], is approved as an ACE provider to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Regulatory boards are the final authority on courses accepted for continuing education credit. ACE provider approval period: [dates]. Social workers completing this course receive 3 total credits including 1 clinical credit, 1 ethics credit, and 1 social and cultural competence continuing education credits.
